Watergate: Paranoia, Polyester en Politiek
Stel je een wereld voor van polyester pakken, draaischijftelefoons en genoeg paranoia om een stadion te vullen. Dat is Watergate in een notendop. Dit meesterwerk voor twee spelers is niet zomaar een droge geschiedenisles, het is een bloedstollend duel waarin de ene speler het opneemt tegen de Nixon-regering die wanhopig probeert te overleven, terwijl de andere The Washington Post speelt, die bloed ruikt.
Het spel weet de "Charlie Kelly"-samenzweringstheorie uit It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia perfect te vangen, waarbij de journalist bewijsmateriaal letterlijk op een prikbord prikt om de President in de val te lokken. Het is een klassiek touwtrekken waarbij elk spel aanvoelt als een "mic drop" of een wanhopige doofpotoperatie. Of je nu informanten blokkeert of het geldspoor volgt, de spanning is constant.
Het is snel, verrassend meedogenloos en misschien wel het leukste wat je met een politiek schandaal kunt doen. Tegen de tijd dat je de informant in contact hebt gebracht met het Witte Huis, zul je beseffen dat Nixon een werkelijk boeiende en geduchte tegenstander is in een bordspel.
