Starting in one week here on BGA: A quasi-turn-based Carcassonne tournament for USA players who are interested in playing against our strongest Carcassonne USA members... and the top two places are guaranteed a spot on "Team USA" during the 2025 World Team Carcassonne Online Championship (WTCOC).

For those of you who aren't in the USCC Group, we wanted to make sure that you are aware of the good news:

The US National Carcassonne Championship (USCC 2023) is officially organized by Carcassonne USA, and will once again take place on BGA on July 15 & 16.

This is the tournament that determines who will represent the USA at the Carcassonne World Championship at Spielezentrum, in Herne, Germany on October 7, 2023.
(You don't have to be willing to travel to Germany to participate)

Carcassonne USA:
Team USA once again participated in the 2023 World Team Carcassonne Online Championship. Mingo took a break from being the team captain, BayAreaRube accepted the responsibilities. The other 9 members were: admitted, arop, crocodilefundy, dkl116, justinethier, kb15236, Sheldahl, Sturgeon, and zacbell. This was the first WTCOC for dk116 and justinethier, and the 4th for admitted and kb15236.

The team placed 4th in group D, just missing the opportunity to participate in the playoffs this year. Darn!

The final games of WTCOC 2023 will be played later this week: China vs RCP for 1st and 2nd place, and Latvia vs Spain for 3rd and 4th place.

Carcassonne USA has officially been given permission to organize the 2023 US National Carcassonne Championship!

The first order of business is to select dates, so I've set up a doodle poll (link below) showing all the weekend afternoons starting after the 4th of July through the first weekend of September. The idea is to have the tournament take place on a Saturday and Sunday of the same weekend, with day 1 being a BGA-style Swiss tournament to determine who will participate in day 2, which will consist of elimination rounds with best-of-3 encounters. Feel free to indicate if you can only participate one day on a particular weekend, and to contact Mingo directly with any suggestions that can't be submitted in the doodle.

Over Carcassonne USA

This group is for Carcassonne base-game players who are from (or currently live in) the US, and particularly those interested in participating in individual and team Carcassonne Tournaments.

In addition to creating an active pool of potential players for the US Carcassonne Team, we also want to promote interest in playing competitive Carcassonne duels (2-player games without expansions). Most of our group communication and activity occurs on our Discord server, so contact Mingo, arop, zacbell, or anyone else in this group if you want to join or learn more!

Background:
We originated as the US Team participating in the first World Team Carcassonne Online Championship (WTCOC) in 2020, and we've expanded by recruiting additional players for friendly matches against Brazil, Japan_TRAPS, Chile, and Guatemala. We won 2nd Place in the 2021 Copa America de Carcassonne tournament in 2021. Since 2021 we have organized the US National Carcassonne Championship (USCC) which is played here on BGA. The USCC determines who represents the United States in the World Carcassonne Championship that is held annually in Essen, Germany.

WTCOC - The World Team Carcassonne Online Championship is now officially recognized by Hans Im Glück and Spielezentrum!!! In 2022 "Team USA" made it to the quarterfinals, and came in 5th out of 25 National teams! We hope to surpass that some day, even as the number of participating countries increases. Copa America: This real-time tournament takes place one weekend a year (generally in March) with Teams from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, United States, and Uruguay.
