The reported game was stalled in the very final stages by one of the players at the table during the last 2 weeks via use of holiday jokers. Multiple other games were stalled by the same player during that time, as was also indicated in discord Agricola community chat.
Although we do not know for sure if games was stalled on purpose or not, there are certain indicators that it wasn't a good sportsmanship behavior after all. During this supposed "holiday time", player still played other games (non-arena) and also participated in kicking players in their arena games.
I strongly believe that people who start games should feel strong obligation to finish those games and should not abuse holiday joker time to delay ranked games, while enjoying playing other games. It is disrespectful to other players and can also affect their rankings. The purpose of holiday jokers is to allow people to be away from gaming altogether, not to give additional times to specific games - or BGA believes otherwise?
Holiday jokers can in theory allow an abusive mechanism, where a player could first player super fast, and then change to very slow mode, but still be not the slowest player overall in the game. Therefore escape loosing points for 3th or 4th place games.
As a community we can of course red-thumb. But better solution would be to discourage stalling or even implement anti-stalling mechanisms. Forbidding abuse of holiday jokers sounds like one of the easy solutions.
