I like this idea. I generally try to do a rough count while I’m playing but the numbers up front would be real nice.

Also, it's important to indicate when the bag is emptied and the tiles are thrown back in the bag.

tile counting and showing the number automatically makes it a bit lazy to think. the important is to have the look and feel of the physical game. I would add no more than the number of tiles currently in the bag, and thats it. Players should keep track of the remaining tiles just like it's done on a physical table!

It should be optional. It would better resemble the actual, physical game without this feature and I for one would rather play without.

Leave this out. There is nothing in the rules about being allowed to see exactly what's in the discard (or what's still in the draw bag)

The rules state "Place them into the lid of the game box to store them for now". It makes no mention of them needing to be hidden, so it should be assumed that they are visible to all.

This is different in Azul 2 and 3 where there are specific towers to put the pieces into to hide them from view.

+1 to what Waddington says. At some point, we will lose the initial game and advantage it gives when you actually think and pay attention, instead of having everything on the plate.

I agree with latest comments - this shouldn't be added. definitely not as "only" option to play game.

Why do I lose so many points every time I lose a game but when I win I gain less than 10?? This is so stupid. Won’t be paying for my next month if this is how it’s going to go.

There is a lot of Elo questions and answers in the forum. This is not related to this suggestion. Elo points are calculated by Bga, not by Azul, and you should have a tooltip over Elo explaining why ;)

I think the best option would be to add this with the option for players to play without it.

This is more important. Indicating used tiles feels a bit too easy to me.

These are manifestly incorrect. The rules, as pointed out by BoardGameMatt, state to place the used tiles into the box lid; thus the tiles are visible throughout subsequent rounds, until the bag needs to be replenished.

I think it could be a good idea to display the number of discarded tiles of each colors, instead of that in the bag. IRL discarded tiles are public but those in the bag are not. Also, would be nice to make this configurable as different may have different opinion on this

I think it would be nice to add this. As mentioned in the physical game you can do this count at any time by:

20 - (sum of tiles on boards) - discards

which is visible in the box lid.

Moreover, it seems in high level BGA play, manually tracking tile counts is widespread. Doing it manually in an excel spreadsheet is relatively easy to do, but it's an annoying hassle and slows down gameplay for everyone. But not doing it puts you at a disadvantage, especially going into the last round when the exact tile counts are precisely known.

Similar to live scoring options in perfect information games like Terraforming Mars or Great Western Trail, I do appreciate that simply making something easier can change the feel of the game, and some players may not like that; so adding it as a toggle seems like a reasonable compromise?

Would be a nice quality of life improvement for game speed if we added this to Azul, IMO!

In the physical game you can see the trashed tiles in the box lid at any time before the bag is empty and gets refilled. We should be able to see the same thing here.

As others have said, in the physical game, you can see the tiles in the box lid. It is not intended to be hidden information nor rely on memory or note-taking.
