You've nailed the simultaneous planning phase with allowing it but not requiring it. (ie I can confirm my stuff out of turn to keep the game moving) Please do the same for the draw phase. Me drawing and pulling my guys back to market shouldn't be dependent on another player doing the same. I understand the need to split the phases (ie i shouldn't be able to draw and then immediately place even though that's how it goes IRL), but drawing should still be simultaneous.

Rapportgeschiedenis
I agree this is rare, but it is allowed by the rules. I agree though it slows the game down a lot, so I wouldn't mind if the online version is authorized to force draw phases simultaneous, but the current implementation does have the correct rules.
As far as I can see according to the rules, the current implementation has it correct. Furthermore, I laid out a scenario where a player can argue they care. (To lay it out further, suppose I have 2 monks in my bag, one monk on a spot from last round. The player in front of me also has 2 monks in their bag. There is a deed which requires 2 monks to get the citizen from.
I'd like to know if the player in front of me drew 2 monks, as that will impact how I draw my tokens this round--I may wish to draw back my placed monk to ensure I can deploy them to the deeds board, but I won't need to if I know the player in front of me has 2 monks).
Again, I agree this is a rare circumstance. I also agree with the idea that I'd prefer the game just have simultaneous draw in order to speed up async play. I'd love to convince the publisher to allow an option for simultaneous draw and for it to be programmed (probably as a rules option when setting up the table). You'd obviously need to make it so that players can't see what anyone has drawn until all players confirm their draw, but plenty of games on BGA allow for stuff like that, so it should be possible.
I'm just defending the implementation in its present form as confirming to the actual published rules though.
- If you have no deployed followers, your Followers phase is automated (draws happen automatically), so those players should now become active.
- I could make it similar to the Planning phase, where you can draw out of turn, except that would not really help turn-based tables as you won't get notified you can start drawing.
- I need to find a way to make draws private until all players have finished their followers phase (either automated or manual drawing)
A new table option is now available: "Simultaneous Followers phase (experimental)"
"The Followers phase is played simultaneous. Players can draw followers from their bag simultaneous, once all players are done the Planning Phase begins. This speeds up turn-based tables, but you sacrifice some strategy aspects."
Due to technical difficulties, hiding draws wasn't possible until all have finished confirmed. So only use this setting for casual games. Highly competitive, tournament and arena should probably keep this setting disabled.
Currently marked as experimental, when this is stable enough I'll remove the label. Currently, it is disabled by default. Do you think this should be the default setting or not?
I suspect most players will prefer to play that way just for speed reasons.
I'm still very open to the publisher just ruling that it's how it works digitally--that everyone draws simultaneously. You lose very little strategy aspect, and speed up the game a bunch compared to the true rules based way of doing it.
I help GM the Orleans tournament at a gaming convention, and almost always players are drawing at the same time. We've had very few instances where players call for and enforce drawing in turn order, because those number of scenarios where it matters are very limited (basically laid out to the thing I lay out above with needing to know who can win a race to a deeds board thing)
