Perform that card's abilities as if u played it, then bury it.") and picked FIRM FISHMONGER from the Tavern, after which the Tavern did not refill at the end of turn before it was my time to draw/discard, i could only pick from 2 instead of 3, nudging me just out of a card i really needed what more it became available for the next player, upsetting...:(

As you can see in the rulebook, you draw cards at step 2, discard at step 3 and the tavern fills up at step 4 :
"During your turn, follow steps 1-4 in order:
1. Play 1 hand card & perform its ability
OR
Discard up to 3 cards into the Wilderness
2. Draw from Tavern and/or Harbor until you
have 4 hero cards
3. Discard down to 3 cards into the Wilderness
4. Fill up empty Tavern slots"
Maybe I should add the steps in the action bar to make it clearer.
