I would love the option to hide live scoring even if it's a player setting within the game and not necessarily as a global option, but that would be fine too.

Why ? Do you really want to check each individual columns and rows to see if they are full and see how much point that give you all the time during the game ?

I never do that when I play the game live, in fact I don't know anyone who live scores their game. All scoring happens end of the game. I think that would be more realistic, or at least have an option to do this.

I know that scoring happens at the end of the game, but this is of course because it would drag the game to do otherwise IRL. Here I dont see the advantage of not seeing your points VS making the last turn last longer because you will want to estimate your points to see what the next best move is.
We might change our mind if enough players want this suggestion but so far you got 0 upvote on it so we won't implement it.

I would also love to have a game option (during table setup) to hide scoring until the end of the game. The game could still show check marks or Xs for each row and column, but if the option was turned off, the game would not sum the points for rows/columns, medals on the trackers, lifepods, meteorites, etc.

I think this more closely models the real-life game, and I sometimes prefer to play with this "fog of war" when other games have it as an option. It can create an interesting risk vs. reward calculation. For instance, if I have two possible moves - a safe move that is guaranteed to score me 1 point immediately, and a risky move that might score 5 points or might lose 5 points by the end of the game - and if I know that I am ahead by 20 points, then I am likely to choose the safe 1 point (to stay in the lead). But if I am not sure of my score, and I think I might be slightly behind, I might choose the risky move to try to catch up.

Of course, some players may choose to sit and calculate their score exactly, but this is a personal preference and may not be possible in games with a timer.

Some players may prefer to have live scoring turned on, which is why I think it would be great to have an option during table setup - that way, players can always follow their preference.

Personally, I think the live scoring detracts from the game. In real life, you may have an idea, but you never know how much others have unless you really delay the game. Here, since you know everything except possible CIV cards and private goals, people will spend a lot more time trying to figure out how to beat someone if they by looking for every niggling point.
